Environmental project no. 428, 1998

Development of a Bunker Norm for Ships

Abstract
The Environmental Protection Agency found that the definitions contained in Council Directive 93/23/EEC on Gas Oil - which is being revised, and which also deals with gas oil for marine purposes - are relevant for shipowners when they purchase oil. Therefore, an investigation is made of the bunker oil which is intended for marine engines and motors. The various bunker oils are the classified by ISO standard and CIMAC's specifications for bunker oil. The work is expected to be incorporated into the EU's further work with oils for ships.
