Pesticides Research no. 57, 2001
Pesticides in air and in precipitation and effects on plant communities
Abstract
The report describes that volatility of pesticides can be determined by a laboratory model
system if based on a standardised method, which is carefully described. The local
atmospheric transport model shows that dry deposition near sprayed fields can be
potentially as important as spray drift. When precipitation was collected and analysed for
selected pesticides they show concentrations like the rest of Europe, with highest
concentrations in the spraying season. The effect of these concentrations of one single
herbicide (mecoprop) was determined on a number of sensitive test plants with only limited
effects.

The Danish Environmental Protection Agency will, when
op-portunity offers, publish reports and contributions relating to
environmental research and development projects financed via the Danish
EPA.
Please note that publication does not signify that the contents of the
reports necessarily reflect the views of the Danish EPA.
The reports are, however, published because the Danish EPA finds that
the studies represent a valuable contribution to the debate on
environmental policy in Denmark.
