Abstract
eng: This paper offers concrete suggestions for achieving sustainable production and consumption by means of a whole systems thinking model. The model expands upon conventional consumption-production models by examining the linked cycles of unsustainable investment, production, consumption, and waste as part of a connected problem. Whole-systems models identify coordinated networks of strategic interventions that optimize a whole system. Rocky Mountain Institute offers examples based on its work in the areas of whole-systems thinking, Natural Capitalism, manufacturing efficiency, and alternative energy and energy systems. These programs are organized into three groups: Systems Thinking, Green Design, and Regional Development.

dan: Rapporten præsenterer en række konkrete forslag til hvordan produktion og forbrug kan gøres bæredygtig ved hjælp af en model for "whole systems thinking". Modellen præsenterer en bred og holistisk forståelse af forbrug og -produktion, og undersøger ikke-bæredygtig investering, produktion, forbrug og affald, som en del af et samlet problem. Holistiske modeller identificerer koordinerede netværk af strategiske foranstaltninger, som optimerer et helt system. Rocky Mountain Institute fremlægger eksempler herpå, baseret på instituttets arbejde inden for holistisk tænkning, "Natural Capitalism", fremstillingseffektivitet, samt alternative energisystemer. Disse programmer er organiseret i tre grupper: systemtænkning, grønt design, og regional udvikling.
