Abstract
eng: During the Copenhagen European Summit in December 2002 a major milestone was reached in completing the EU enlargement project. The summit also reaffirmed the irreversibility of the accession proces for Bulgaria. The aim of this strategic analysis is to identify the key problem areas and challenges to be addressed during the pre-accession phase relating to implementation of the EU environmental acquis and to environmental protection and sector integration in general.

Resumé
dan: Under Det Europæiske Råds møde i København i december 2002 skete der store skridt frem mod at færdiggøre EU's udvidelsesprojekt. På mødet blev det desuden igen bekræftet, at tiltrædelsesprocessen fortsætter for Bulgarien. Målet med denne strategiske analyse er at identificere de vigtigste problemer og udfordringer relateret til implementeringen af EU's aquis på miljøområdet og til miljøbeskyttelse og sektorintegrering generelt.
