Environmental Project no. 960, 2004

Environmental Assessment of Product Concept for Electronic Products

Abstract
A simple method for environmental assessment of electronic products at the very early stage of product development has been developed. It is based on several previous projects about environmental assessment of electronic products. In addition to the technical and the environmental aspects, marketing aspects are also evaluated. The method will indicate a number of "hot spots", which form a good foundation for proposing environmentally relevant targets for the product specification and to prioritise. It has been integrated in the tool "A Designer's Guide to Eco-Conscious Design of Electrical & Electronic Equipment" (Eco-design Guide).

The Danish Environmental Protection Agency will, when opportunity offers, publish reports and contributions relating to environmental research and development projects financed via the Danish EPA.

Please note that publication does not signify that the contents of the reports necessarily reflect the views of the Danish EPA.

The reports are, however, published because the Danish EPA finds that the studies represent a valuable contribution to the debate on environmental policy in Denmark.
