Quantification and Identification of Active Microorganisms in Microbial Plant Protection Products

Abstract
All Microbial Plant Protection Products (MPPP) that were on the Danish market in January 2004 were investigated with the aim to quantify and identify the active microorganisms in the MPPP and detect contaminating bacteria. Deviations in quantity as well as identity were found for some MPPP. In some MPPP based on Trichoderma sp. the occurrence of contaminating microorganisms was higher than specified by the producers. This may have implications for health or environmentally related risks.

The Danish Environmental Protection Agency will, when opportunity offers, publish reports and contributions relating to environmental research and development projects financed via the Danish EPA.

Please note that publication does not signify that the contents of the reports necessarily reflect the views of the Danish EPA.

The reports are, however, published because the Danish EPA finds that the studies represent a valuable contribution to the debate on environmental policy in Denmark.
