Abstract:
Three different booth techniques for applying self-tanning creams are assessed and air samples from the application sites have been analyzed for the active ingredient, dihydroxyacetone (DHA).

Abstract in Danish:
Tre forskellige teknikker, hvorved selvbrunerprodukter sprayes på i kabiner, er blevet undersøgt og luftprøver fra påføringsstedet analyseret for indhold af det aktive stof i selvbrunere, dihydroxyacetone (DHA). The study shows that customers are exposed to low levels of DHA when using spray booths, and there is no evidence to suggest that self-tanning creams applied in spray booths are of concern to the health of consumers. However, Due to the findings in this study and the limited data available on the toxic effects of DHA, a few risk reduction measures are recommended until further documentation is made available.
