Survey of chemical substances in consumer products no. 83, 2007

Registration of chemical substances in cleaning agents used for cleaning after fire or smoke damage in private homes

Abstract
A survey of cleaning agents to be used for professional cleaning in private homes after fire or smoke damage as well as observations of the actual work shows that ordinary cleaning agents and basic cleaning agents are used to a large extent. These are hardly likely to affect the indoor climate after the clean-up. However, a number of odour treatment products containing slowly evaporating substances are also used. These substances were not identified but might possibly affect the indoor climate and might cause problems for people who are particularly sensitive to smell.
