Kortlægning af perfluoroktanylsulfonat og lignende stoffer i forbrugerprodukter - fase 1

Summary and conclusions

OECD has divided Perfluoroctanyl Sulfonate (PFOS) and its derivates into 22 classes. Substances from 17 of these classes were identified in the Danish Product Register.

The classes 1, 2 and 8 are represented in the register with most CAS No's. (10, 10 and 12).

It is assessed that in the following product groups within the register cover the most comprehensive use of substances from the OECD classes:
Floor polishing products
Paint and lacquer
Cleaning agents
Serigraphy pigments
Textile impregnation products.

The assessment is based on the number of registered products and not on the consumed amount.

The function of the substances in the products is by the register assessed to be main component and/or surfactant activity.

As the above mentioned product may be used by consumers, the overall conclusion of this survey is that consumers may come into contact with substances from 17 of the 22 OECD-classes of PFOS.
