Field Testing of In-Well Aerator in Low-Yield Aquifers

Summary and conclusions

Field tests of the In-Well Aerator demonstrate that the aerator effectively withdraws groundwater and removes chlorinated solvents from the water.

With respect to costs of establishment the In-Well Aerator is attractive compared to other known techniques.

Costs of operation are likely to be lower than traditional pump and treat methods when operating in low yield aquifers with high concentration of contamination. Work related to maintenance and monitoring of performance of the In-Well Aerator is of limited extent.

The primary advantages of the In-Well Aerator are small space requirements, limited requirements for maintenance and monitoring of performance, effective water treatment and the solidity and reliability when operating in low yield aquifers.
