Mapping of perfume in toys and children's articles

Abstract
In the project, a mapping of the Danish market for toys and children's articles with fragrances marketed to children at age 0-10 years has been carried out. The articles are analysed for content of chemical substances especially sensitizing perfumes. The objective of the project was to create an overview of how widespread the use of perfume and fragrances in toys, babies' articles and other products for children is, and on the basis of analyses and test results to assess the health problems the substances can cause to children. Quantitative and qualitative analyses were made on selected articles for specified chemicals with focus on sensitizing perfumes and organic substances.

The Danish Environmental Protection Agency will, when opportunity offers, publish reports and contributions relating to environmental research and development projects financed via the Danish EPA.

Please note that publication does not signify that the contents of the reports necessarily reflect the views of the Danish EPA.

The reports are, however, published because the Danish EPA finds that the studies represent a valuable contribution to the debate on environmental policy in Denmark.
