Environmental Project No. 1292, 2009 Development and use of screening methods to determine chromium (VI) and brominated flame retardants in electrical and electronic equipmentAbstract The content of lead, cadmium and mercury in individual materials can be determined easily and non-destructively using an X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry (XRF) screening method. For hexavalent chromium and the two groups of brominated flame retardants, PBDEs and PBBs, the XRF method is not immediately applicable, and there has consequently been a need for the development of relatively simple and cheap screening methods.
