Abstract:
The project aimed at developing biological control of weevils (Strophosoma melanogrammum and S. capitatum) that cause damage to fir in Danish greenery plantations (Abies nobilis). Insect pathogenic fungi were tested in the laboratory and applied in a plantation, in which the life cycle of the weevils was also studied. Metarhizium anisopliae showed a significant effect, which - due to the long life cycle of the weevils (approx. 16 months) - could be documented in the year after application. It is concluded that it is possible to develop biological control of weevils for practical use.

Projektet omhandler biologisk bekæmpelse af snudebiller (gråsnuderne Strophosoma melanogrammum og S. capitatum), som gør skade i danske pyntegrøntbevoksninger af nobilis. Insektpatogene svampe blev testet i laboratoriet, dernæst i en bevoksning, og billernes livscyklus blev samtidig undersøgt. Svampen Metarhizium anisopliae havde god bekæmpelseseffekt, men først året efter udsprøjtning i bevoksningen pga. billernes livscyklus på ca. 16 måneder. Det vurderes, at biologisk bekæmpelse af gråsnuder kan udvikles til brug i praksis.
