Abstract
The report is a summary and synthesis of the results of the external evaluation of the
Danish Environmental Support Fund for Eastern Europe (DESF) initiated by the Danish
Environmental Protection Agency (DEPA) in 1997. It provides the principles for
environmental assistance in the period 1991-96 and contains a description and assessement
of the projects supported under DESF during this period. Furthermore, the report contains
a description of the co-operation between DEPA and 8 selected countries in Eastern Europe.
Finally, it provides a synthesis of key issues and problems as well as recommendattions
for future activities an improvements in the existing framework for Danish environmental
assistance to Eastern Europe.
