Model assessment of reductive dechlorination as a remediation technology for contaminant sources in fractured clay: Case studies

Delrapport III

Abstract
The numerical model developed in Delrapport II is applied to three Danish sites contaminated with chlorinated solvents in clayey till. The cleanup times to achieve defined remediation criteria are assessed for different remediation scenarios: they are significantly reduced compared to baseline, but are still of several decades. Good distribution of substrate and bacteria as well as high reaction rates should be achieved to ensure an efficient remediation.

The Danish Environmental Protection Agency will, when opportunity offers, publish reports and contributions relating to environmental research and development projects financed via the Danish EPA.

Please note that publication does not signify that the contents of the reports necessarily reflect the views of the Danish EPA.

The reports are, however, published because the Danish EPA finds that the studies represent a valuable contribution to the debate on environmental policy in Denmark.
