Kemiske produkter i autobranchen English SummaryThis project report describes
Backgruond As background for the project is pointed out, that the chemical products used in the automobile industry may have essential impact on occupational health and environment. At the same time the awareness of the effects is low, and the possibility for understanding these effects is not always good. Scoring system Therefore, a method has been developed to assign an environmental profile to each product. A score is given to each of the parameters occupational health, environmental impact (human) and environmental impact (water). Oil separation test The automobile industry uses different oil types in large amounts. In Denmark, all garages must have an "appropriate" oil separator mounted at the wastewater outlet, and there are official guidelines for oil concentrations in wastewater. As many chemical products will emulsify oil, a test has been developed to describe the degree, to which a chemical product allows oil to separate from water. Keminøglen The developed methods have been used to assess the chemical profile on 145 products, on demand from producers and dealers of the products. Results of all the assessments have been published in "Keminøglen" /13/, a book that mainly is spread among environmental authorities and garages, but is available to the public. A new issue will come in the year 2000. It is expected that this will include about 200 products. All results are published at the web sites www.dge.dk ; www.danskmetal.dk
; www.motorbrancchen.dk Conclusion It is concluded that
