Impact of Regulations of Traffic Emissions on PAH Level in the Air
Abstract
Measurements made in the period 1992-94 (Miljøprojekt 285, 1995) indicated, that the
levels of PAH and mutagens was reduced during period. It was estimated that explanations
could be the increased use of catalytic converters and the introduction of an improved
diesel fuel. The measurements in this project confirm, that a significant reduction of PAH
and mutagens took place during the period 1992-1996. The reduction of the
PAH-concentration has been estimated to about 35%. It is concluded that 2/3 of the
reduction is due to the use of the improved diesel quality and 1/3 to the increased use of
catalytic converters.
