Human Bioaccessibility of Heavy Metals and PAH from Soil

Abstract
From new foreign studies appear that contamination of the soil with lead and PAH may be less dangerous to Man than was previously assumed. On the basis of our present knowledge, the limit values to soil contamination, however, cannot be generally raised, since the solubility of the contaminants in the gastrointestinal system depends on soil type, source and age. Instead, the hazard can be tested ad hoc for each pollution incident or type, in order to determine the limit appropriate in each individual case.
