Statistik for metalemballage 2000

Summary

The purpose of these statistics is to illustrate the recycling development of metal packaging waste in 2000.

The amount of metal packaging waste being separately collected in Denmark was examined. This figure was compared to the amount of metal packaging being consumed in Denmark. On the basis of these findings, the recycling percentage was calculated.

The table hereunder summarises the results.

The statistical data on metal packaging for 2000 shows the following:
The total amount of metal packaging waste in Denmark amounted in 2000 to approx. 52.000 tons.
In 2000 almost 16 per cent or 8.431 tons of the metal packaging waste in Denmark was collected for recycling purposes. Half of the amount was collected directly as used packaging primarily from industries while the other half is estimated to be collected together with all other metal items at community owned recycling stations for household waste.
Steel packaging and tinplate comprised 90 per cent of the total collected.
The unreliability at the figures for collected metal packaging is rather heavy
Recycling of separate collected metal packaging forms only a part of the total recycling of metal packaging. Recycling of incineration slag contributes as well to the total recycling of metal packaging
