Teknisk udvikling af chiller med CO2 som kølemiddel

2 English summary

2.1 Objective

New legislation and the need for more environmentally friendly solution in the area of refrigeration increase the need of development of new refrigeration systems. The range of natural refrigerants are relative narrow and the since ammonia and hydro carbons have huge disadvantages with respect to toxicity and flammability.

It is the aim of this project to develop sustainable and commercial competetable solutions with CO2 as working fluid. CO2 is neither toxic nor flammable and with the correct design refrigeration system can archive the best COP-value in the market.

Advansor A/S have earlier finalised a design study (j.nr. M1230-0038) and this project will built further on these interesting results.

The project is divided into the following parts:

  1. Dimensioning of chiller range
  2. Manufacturing and approvals
  3. Laboratory testing
  4. Commissioning of chiller and field-testing
  5. Communication of results
  6. Conclusion and report

2.2 Conclusion

The project has shown very promising results for CO2-chillers in the Scandinavian market. A range of chillers are developed, tested in the laboratory and in the field. Annual COP values are higher than 5 and the function of all parts eg. compressors, valves, oil management, adiabatic humidification and free cooling with thermosifon have proven their functionality. The thermosifon is a very promising option with capacities around 50% of the design value and a COP around 18.

Advansor A/S now produces and sells chillers in the range from 80-400 kW. Available options are free cooling, adiabatic humidification of inlet air to condenser, in/ out-door installation, low noise versions.
