Emballageforsyningen i Danmark 2006

The consulting company LOGISYS A/S completed the survey of the Danish supply of packaging covering 2006. The classification complies with the EU directive on packaging and packaging waste.

Furthermore, a survey of the use of returnable packaging has been completed. This shows that there is a supply of 323 millions returnable packaging and in total this packaging circulated 1.8 billions times in 2006. If this quantity of packaging were one-way packaging, it would have increased the total supply of packaging by 915,000 tonnes per year – approx. doubling the present quantity of packaging.

The packaging statistics include a calculation of where the packaging quantities end as waste – in other words from where the packaging has to be collected prior to its disposal. This calculation will also be done in the years to come. The greatest packaging amount has to be disposed from private households. These account for approx. 46% of the total packaging waste.
