Survey and safety assessment of Chemical substances in artificial nails and nail hardeners
2 Objective
The overall objective of the project is to create e general view of the possible health risk involved using artificial nails and nail hardeners. For this purpose we have composed three intermediate projects:
- A survey of the presence of chemicals with a sensitisation potential in artificial nails, in glue for artificial nails and in nail hardeners sold to private persons in the retail shops, through the internet as well as in products from beauty cliniques.
- A part in which selected products for artificial nails are analysed for their content of for example acrylic compounds and nail hardener products for content of formaldehyde.
- A safety assessment of acrylic compounds, formaldehyde compounds, formaldehyde and other potentially problematic chemicals in the products including – if possible - a suggestion for a concentration which is safe to the user.
