Summary and conclusions

The objective of the project ”Construction of a knowledge base for industrial and commercial waste consultans” was to establish a web-based knowledge base on waste with the aim of collecting and systematizing knowledge on industrial and commercial waste.

The knowledge base is located in connection with Waste Center Denmark’s website. The knowledge base is primarily intended for industrial and commercial waste consultants, but will also be useful for a broad variety of manufacturing enterprises, waste carriers and waste management facilities.

As a starting point the knowledge base contains fact sheets on waste from 20 sectors of industry:

Farms
Garages
Grocery trade
Hotels
Iron and metal industry
Manufacture of construction materials
Manufacture of electronic equipment
Manufacture of furniture
Manufacture of leather
Manufacture of machinery
Manufacture of paper
Manufacture of textiles and clothing
Manufacture of wood products
Offices
Plastic industry
Publishing and printing
Slaughterhouses

It is also possible via the knowledge base to access Waste Center Denmark’s information sheets on waste fractions, waste types and sources of waste.

Further, the knowledge base contains a dynamic and interactive feature for comments, questions and answers. The feature is available under every sector sheet and on the main page. Here it is possible to write comments, ask questions, give answers or good examples of practical problems or solutions concerning industrial and commercial waste, waste management and waste treatment.

The knowledge base is not a waste exchange. Instead the knowledge base contains links to a number of Danish and foreign waste exchanges accessible on-line.
