Implementering af REACH i byggebranchen

1 Summary

The new EU legislation called REACH (Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) entered into force on 1 June 2007.

As a consequence of REACH, industry is now responsible for assessing and managing the risks posed by chemicals to people and the environment and for providing appropriate safety information to the users of chemicals.

This project has surveyed products and chemicals used at three Danish facilities within the building material industry. These facilities are two distributors of sealing material and a roof material company.

Based on information collected from the facilities, a report has been elaborated describing the tasks and specific actions that are necessary in order to comply with the REACH regulation. Each facility has received this report.

To help with the practical REACH implementation in a facility, the project has furthermore developed an easy-to-use web tool. This web tool provides easy access to information on chemical substances in the production process and substances contained in final products as well as an overview of substances listed as dangerous or unwanted substances according to the legislation.
