Mass Flow Analysis of Chromium and Chromium Compounds

Abstract
The consumption of chromium and chromium compounds in Denmark in 1999 was 25,000-30,000 tons/year - of which more than 50% was used as metallic chromium, and the remaining quantity as chromium compounds and as trace constituents; the consumption of chromium(VI) compounds is considered to fall, and is estimated at 50-53 tons/year.   Chromium in waste is largely recycled together with iron, aluminium and copper, while this is not the case with chromium compounds.  A survey was also made of emissions to air, soil and water, and to landfills.

The Danish Environmental Protection Agency will, when op-portunity offers, publish reports and contributions relating to environmental research and development projects financed via the Danish EPA.

Please note that publication does not signify that the contents of the reports necessarily reflect the views of the Danish EPA.

The reports are, however, published because the Danish EPA finds that the studies represent a valuable contribution to the debate on environmental policy in Denmark.
