Statistik for plastemballage 2003
Summary
The purpose of this report is to illustrate the development of the market for recycling of plastic packaging waste in 2003.
The study shows the amount of plastic packaging waste being collected in Denmark and the amount of plastic packaging being consumed in Denmark. The table summarises the results.

The statistical data concerning plastic packaging shows that:
- The amount of plastic packaging waste collected for recycling in Denmark in 2003 was 27,000 tonnes equivalent to 5.1 kg per inhabitant or 11.3 kg per household.
- The potential in 2003 is 154,800 tons equivalent 29.2 kg per inhabitant or 64.5 kg per household.
- The amount of plastic packaging waste collected for recycling in Denmark was 27,000 tons in 2003. The increase compared to 2002 was 2,600 tonnes or 11%.
- In 2003 17.4 % of the plastic packaging waste in Denmark was collected for recycling. In 2002 the percentage of collected packaging was 15.5 %.
- Polyethylene (PE) made up 69 % of the potential and 83 % of the collected amounts.
- 60% of the collected plastic packaging waste was exported for recycling in 2003. This is at the same level as in 2002.
- 49 % of the plastic packaging waste being reprocessed in Denmark in 2003 was imported from abroad. In 2002 this figure was 46 %.
