Forprojekt - Renere produkter og bedre affaldshåndtering inden for belysningsbranchen

Summary and conclusions

This project is part of “Programme for cleaner products” implemented by the Danish EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). The project management is carried out by The Danish Illuminating Engineering Society (IES).

The project is made in cooperation with COWI as, consultant engineers, and The Department of Manufacturing Engineering and Management, Danish Technical University, together with representatives from the lighting trade.

The purpose of the project is to survey the environmental impact from the Danish lighting industry. Based on the survey a large number of projects have been described with the aim to reduce the environmental impact. In cooperation with the trade 5 high priority projects have been chosen and presented in terms of activity plan and budget.

  1. Action plan for increased use of intelligent lighting control.
  2. Development of environmentally compatible luminaires for private households.
  3. Demonstration plant for savings in the energy consumption of lighting in shops.
  4. Environmental investigation of different types of lamps and luminaires.
  5. Development of new methods for recycling of lamps and luminaires.

The 5 projects cover the most important environmental problems in the lighting trade. Project no. 1, 2, 3 concentrate on savings in the energy consumption, whereas project 4 and 5 deals with reduction in the amount of dangerous substances.
