Noise Emissions from Motocross Vehicles, Lunderbjerg Motocross Club
Summary and conclusions
The acoustic laboratory of the motor sport in Denmark (MA) has determined noise emissions from three types of motor cross machines on the track of the premises of Lunderbjerg Motocross Klub (LMK).
It is of interest to compare the noise emissions determined by MA with the noise emissions measured on the same day by LMK, as well as with the emissions previously measured by the company “dk-teknik – Energy & Environment”. This latter measurement was used as a basis for a noise calculation from the track used in connection with the environmental approval.

It should be noted that the results for the 80 ccm machines are based on measurement of several vehicles, whereas the result for the 125 ccm machine is based on measurement of one vehicle only. Furthermore it can not be assumed that the machines that were measured on the 28th of May, are the same as those measured previously by “dk-teknik”.
Based on the above it may be concluded that the values used by “dk-teknik” are in the same order as the values obtained during this campaign.
The club, LMK, controls the noise emissions from all vehicles using its tracks on a regular schedule. These emission values are used during all training sessions to determine the actual total noise emission to the surrounding areas at all times. Thus, the decisive issue is whether the method used by the club to determine the noise emission is correct.
Based on the measurements made it may be concluded that the method used to determine the noise emission is representative for the true values, and that the club meets the terms of its environmental approval relating to noise control.
