Vejledning til bekendtgørelse om påfyldning og vask af sprøjter til udbringning af bekæmpelsesmidler

Summary and conclusions

Filling of plant protection products in field sprayers and knapsak sprayers must be done in an area where it is possible to collect spills or in the field just before treatment. When cleaning the sprayer, the system must be rinsed in the field and the rinsate must be sprayed on the field in a manner consistent with the product’s intended use. Filling and cleaning of greenhouse sprayers must also take place in an area with collection of rinse water or in the greenhouse where the plant protection product has been used.

In order to avoid any environmental impact during filling and cleaning of sprayers a number of regulations are imposed on spraying equipment, cleaning area and distances to water ways and well-borings. Field sprayers, including mist blowers, must be filled through induction bowls with container rinse facility. Rinsing water tank and rinse nozzle must be available, so that any spray residue can be diluted and the rinsate solution sprayed within treatment area.

The concentration of diluted spray solution must be less than 1/50 of the spray mixture concentration. The residual spray mixture in greenhouse and knapsak sprayers must be diluted and sprayed in a similar manner in the area that has been treated.

The tap, through which the sprayer is filled with water, must be equipped with a back siphoning valve in order to prevent any back siphoning from the spray tank. The water amount must be regulated by a water meter or a similar device in order to prevent any overflow from the spray tank.

Wash water from a cleaning area must be collected in a slurry tank or another container. Wash water must be spread on arable fields according to the specific guidelines for spreading slurry. Wash water from another container can be sprayed in the fields in such a way that it does not cause any risk. Spreading of wash water must not cause impact to the environment or to emerging crops. The instructions indicate the size of area that is needed for spreading wash water containing pesticide residues as well as the appropriate method to use.
